Follow-ups allow you to send one message after a specific amount of time. You can use follow-ups to nudge people to complete tasks, remind them of verify to information, sign off policies, finish surveys, or request feedback on information sent out i.e how they rated an FAQ answer. The follow-up is a message part that can be added to the end of a message. When triggered by a bot user, it can send a follow-up message based on what was programmed into the message part. These can act as reminders and nudges.

Benefits

• Increase engagement

• Nudge bot users to get tasks completed

• Get feedback on previously sent content

• Ask employees if there's any questions after important announcements

• Let managers know if one of their reports have received multiple follow-ups and have yet to complete a task

Step by step guide

1) Build out your bot flow

Build out your bot flow and message that will trigger the follow-up:

2) Click on follow-up settings

Click on "Follow-up settings" to open up the modal to start building your follow-up.

3) Configure your follow-up settings

You will now be in the modal:

You can choose dates:

And then the delay after which you want the follow-up to be sent. Finally choose/create the follow-up message from the bottom drop down list.

You can now save your modal settings, save your message and then push your changes live.

Your follow up will then be sent based on the criteria set in the modal. Please note that the follow up message will only be sent once.

Cancel follow-up if...

Cancel follow-up if... allows you to cancel the follow up if the task completed has been completed and the criteria has been met based on the attribute settings configured. You can think of it as a nudge that is sent to people who have not completed the required task. You can then send users a message reminding them to complete the action so that the attribute is set. This feature works really well for reminders i.e. if a user has not clicked a button to complete a task.

To set this up, simply click on the tick box next to "Only send if..." and configure your attributes.

For this example, I want to send a follow-up message reminding people to complete a task if they haven't clicked the call to action in my welcome message. So I have set the attributes to cancel the follow up if people have clicked on the call to action on the welcome message and have therefore hit the attribute in said button.

Once the task has been completed, the user should stop receiving the follow-up. You can check this in the diagnostic tool outlined at the end of the article.

Diagnostic tool

You can find a diagnostic tool under "People and Privacy" in the left hand menu:

This allows you to track sent, cancelled or failed follow-ups all in one place:
