Sometimes, you want to do some more advanced work with your bots.

For example, you may want your users to respond to the same question everyday and to store all of their responses in a google sheet. This is particularly helpful for something like a survey bot where it's useful to track a user's responses over a period of time.

Or, you may want to set up a form of live voting via a bot.

An easy way to do both of these is by sending data from your bot, to a tool like Zapier, which is an integration to connect apps.

Zapier is "an online automation tool that connects your favorite apps, such as Gmail, Slack, MailChimp, and over 1,000 more. You can connect two or more apps to automate repetitive tasks without coding or relying on developers to build the integration. Move info between your web apps automatically, so you can focus on your most important work."

The video below shows you how to set up a survey bot template to post the results to a 3rd party, using a webhook message part and Zapier, we also cover sending results to a Google Sheet:

Another tool we recommend is Integromat, which will allow you to post data back to the bot.  Find out more about integrations here.

You can also develop your own custom integration using our Webhook part. For more information on this, please see our github repository, which has some "hello world" examples.

*NB where 'HTTP Post' was used previously this has now been renamed to 'webhook'.
